KIMBERLY — Residents of northern Jefferson and southern Blount counties have an opportunity to help those in Moore, Okla. who were devastated by Monday's EF-5 tornado.
The city of Kimberly is joining with their counterparts in Birmingham to collect specific items to send to Oklahoma. Those items can be brought to Kimberly City Hall from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
Kimberly officials will deliver collected items on Thursday, May 30 to Boutwell Auditorium in downtown Birmingham. From there, the items will be taken to Oklahoma by a truck furnished by the Christian Service Mission.
The items needed include:
Food, water and clothing items are specifically not requested and will not be going on the truck to Oklahoma. If authorities in the tornado stricken area do not need those items, they may instead be donated to local shelters in Alabama.
The trucks from our area will deliver to First Baptist Church in Moore.
