Gardendale City Hall closed Oct. 18-19
Gardendale City Hall will close Oct. 18-19 while offices are moved to new locations. City hall is moving next door to the former civic center building. The police department, which will be closed Oct. 19, is moving to the former Food World grocery store on U.S. Hwy. 31.
Oct. 19 deadline to turn in names for memorial
The last day to turn in deceased veterans’ names to be inscribed onto the North Jefferson Memorial Wall is Oct. 19. The names will be read aloud during a Nov. 11 Veterans Day ceremony, hosted jointly by American Legion Post 255 and VFW Post 10250. Family members must provide a DD214 form and a death certificate. Drop flowers off at Memorial Park
The Gardendale Beautification Commission invites citizens to drop off flowers at the Memorial Park anytime from now until Veterans Day on Nov. 11 to honor the heroes of the past.
Warrior Day Nov. 3
The annual Warrior Day festival is Nov. 3 at Warrior Park, beginning at 9 a.m. There will be a parade, music, arts and crafts, vendors, a raffle and more. For more information, call JD McAlpine at 647-9697 or Morris Winnett at 590-4620.
Gardendale clean-up now through Friday
The Gardendale Public Works Department will offer curbside pickup of household discards through Friday. Call 631-3394 before Thursday for pickup. All items must be placed at curbside.
