We now have a legislator who is driven by what is right for our state and he is pursuing that course.
Representative Allen Treadaway is from among our ranks and he knows that all of us have been getting the short end of the stick from our elected leaders. While representing us in Montgomery he won’t be looking for ways to hook up with a “deal” to make himself tons of side money in the use of his position.
He is aware of the many wrongs in our system and is attempting to do something about them. He has watched our “do nothing” legislators sitting on their hands while scurrying up ways to raid the public till. We have seen so much of that in the recent past.
In Alabama, elected officials are not subject to recall and there is no way we can rid ourselves of our many crooked and do-nothing politicians. Waiting through an entire election cycle to vote them out doesn’t work. Short of being caught with their hands in the cookie jar and loosing their position by court conviction, as happened to a senator recently, we are stuck with them.
Representative Treadaway is introducing a measure that will rectify this situation, but it will require the vote and backing of all of us. And it is obvious that Jefferson County is in dire need of this law right now.
Those legislators who want to keep their hands in the cookie jar will fight this measure to save their place in the line to where the money is.
We should all support Treadaway and his measure giving us recall capability on bad elected officials. He has been in a position to see the many ills of our society and now he is in a position to actually do something about them. To assure his success it will take a lot of support from the rest of us, and we certainly need to give it to him.
