Thanks, Jim Lowery

In a recent letter to The North Jefferson News written by Mr. Russell Smith, two important things were pointed out. First, we need to conserve water, second we need more ways to store water, both very good ideas.
Then he started on a tirade against Jim Lowery, mayor of Fultondale.
Mr. Smith repeated almost verbatim everything he had heard and everything written about Mr. Lowery in every publication in Jefferson County, blah, blah, yada, yada, yada. What brain storming, what originality.
Everyone wants to hear about news, but no one wants this same ole, same ole.
I don’t know what Mr. Smith’s gripe is, but I think he suffers from the “Fultondale’s getting everything” syndrome.
I’ve been in Fultondale for nearly 70 years. I, with many others, can recall when you almost had to go to north Birmingham for a loaf of bread.
Now I can look across Fultondale and feel so proud of all the good stuff that’s taking place. I and a few thousand others owe a debt of gratitude to all the former leaders of our city and especially Jim Lowery and his team for all of the hard work and dedication it takes to make things work. This doesn’t just happen. Someone must work at it. There’s a lot of credit due to many, but they must have a leader. Thanks Jim Lowery.
