Woman appreciates Wal-Mart for helping

My son Matt is in the active military stationed at Ft. Rucker and he just had a wonderful experience with the Gardendale Wal-Mart.

He had been home on leave in Ohio and was headed back to Ft. Rucker on Jan. 4. He was pulling a small trailer behind his truck and suddenly had a blow-out on one of the trailer tires at approximately 7:15 pm.

He called AAA to be towed and they informed him that they could tow him to the Gardendale Wal-Mart. AAA promised they would come as quickly as possible.

Matt called the tire department at Wal-Mart to see if they had the size tire he needed. They did but told him they would be closing in 45 minutes. Matt called AAA back and they told him they would make it a priority.

At 7:45 p.m. I called the Wal-Mart and spoke to the tire department. The gentlemen I spoke to were very kind and friendly and transferred me to the store manager/supervisor named Shirley.

I explained the situation to her, that my son was at the mercy of the towing company and that he would get there as soon as possible. Shirley promised me that the tire center would remain open to accommodate my son.

To make this long story short, let me just say this: AAA never showed up. Matt took the tire off himself in the dark, left the trailer on a jack and drove himself to Wal-Mart to get a new tire mounted.

The two gentleman in the tire department were extremely kind, helpful, courteous and professional. They would not accept a tip from my son explaining that since he was in the military that was enough thanks for them.

I think that too often kind people are not given enough credit. Shirley was so very very kind and professional and helpful in promising me that the tire department would remain open and she was true to her word.

The employees in the tire department deserve a great big thanks also for going out of their way to stay almost an hour overtime waiting for my son to arrive.

I would very much appreciate some kind of public recognition for Shirley and the men that work in the tire department at the Gardendale Wal-Mart.

Sincerely,

Anne Bradstock
