The Church at Gardendale will be hosting its third annual Christian entertainment night Friday.

The event will start at 7 p.m. and is open to the public.

Admission is free but an offering will be taken.

The Christian Entertainment Night will be emceed by Ronnie Bruce, midday host on radio station WDJC, 93.7 FM. Bruce also emceed the event last year.

There will be a comedy act, drama, gospel music and much more.

Door prizes, donated by various local merchants, will be given out.

The event is a fundraiser put on by L.I.N.K. (Ladies Inspired to Network for the Kingdom) to raise money to help women in the area who are in need.

Money collected will benefit the North Jefferson Women’s Center, Teen

Challenge Women and Grace and Mercy Ministries.

“I think it’s a good thing to help other women and missionaries. It’s important to reach out and help others,” Helen Fink, The Church at Gardendale’s hospitality hostess, said.

Grace and Mercy Ministries, founded by Paul Metcalf, schedules up to eight missionary trips a year to India and Indonesia.

The ministry hosts outdoor crusades, pastors’ conferences and widow’s

meetings. It also visits leper colonies and orphanages.

“I hope everyone can come out. It’s very worthwhile and there is something for everyone,” Fink said.

This event is how the church raises the bulk of its funds for the year.

The church’s goal for this event is to raise $5,000.

“We are very excited to be able to share this event with others and show that we appreciate all those who are coming. It’s a Christian based evening where people can come and be entertained by a variety of Christian entertainment and help further the kingdom,” L.I.N.K. president, Cindy Lawson said.

Youth Force from Warrior will be performing the drama acts.

Shallow Praise, which is connected to Youth Force, will also be there.

Al and Passion Lewis will be singing Christian-based blues jazz.

Solo artist Rick Glaze will be performing.

Christian band Down Pour will perform as well.

Down Pour is highly-ranked on the Christian music chart, according to Lawson.

Claudia Lewis will be playing the flute during the event.

Pastor Lynn Lawson and his wife Cindy Lawson founded The Church at Gardendale in 1980. Lynn Lawson has been pastor for over 26 years.

Cindy also serves with him as ordained minister, teacher and associate pastor.
