Jefferson County — Jefferson County School System transportation employees were honored at the Leadership Council on Sept. 12. They are, from left: technicians and bus specialists Frank Goode and Shane Cochran, shop foreman Josh Dunn and co-director Della Baker. The Alabama Department of Education has sponsored the state preliminary contest for the America’s Best Training and Skills Challenge for two years and Cochran has been first place both years. Goode placed second in the state. The competitively timed contest involves bugging a school bus with electronic and mechanical problems, and the contestant fixing the most problems in the shortest amount of time wins.
