Fultondale Elementary students share ideas

AN NJN EDITORIAL — Fultondale Elementary fifth graders are, from left, Trip Chapman, Tre’ Hixson, Lauren O. Harris and Lindsey Harris, who surround their teacher Julie Ramsay, JefCoEd’s elementary teacher of the year.   The students spoke at a state and an international technology for the classroom convention in Birmingham and San Diego this summer.  Their presentation showed how they designed their project within content areas, collaborated with students nationwide and how they used blogs and designed rubrics for their own assessment. Teachers attending were complimentary of the presentation. “I changed the way that teacher teaches forever,” said Hixson. “Isn’t that what this is all about? Sharing our ideas to help others.”
