We at The North Jefferson News are working like busy little bees on a multitude of projects that we think our readers and advertisers will be interested in.
First, May is almost here and that means graduation time for our area high school seniors. That being said, we have our special graduation section coming out in May that will pay tribute to our hard-working seniors and include class photos of each graduating class in our coverage area and stories spotlighting outstanding seniors. The edition will also include a chance for parents to place an ad, featuring their graduate’s picture, in the front pages of the section. I’d say that’s even better than one of those “My child is an honor roll student at [fill-in-the-blank] school” bumper stickers.
My parents always complained about not having any of those bumper stickers on their own vehicles, but now I realize I was helping the value of their automobiles by just getting by in school. But I digress ...
Another project that we’re very excited about is our very first magazine. It’s a new venture for us and yes, it will actually look like a magazine with glossy pages, pretty photos and everything. We’ll be putting them out in just about every restaurant and hotel we can find.
Picture if you will, the weary traveler. He/she’s tired and wants something truly incredible to read. The traveler peers down and, lo and behold, there’s “The North Jefferson Vision” magazine. “Great scott! I’ll read that! It looks riveting!”
And it will be.
We’ll be including some feature stories from every corner of our coverage area about the fascinating people, places and events that make northern Jefferson County so darn special. Why did we call it “Vision”? Everyone has a “vision” for our area, including us. Not only that, the communities we cover are progressive enough to keep looking ahead, instead of looking back.
For advertisers, this is a great way to get your restaurant, golf course, boutique, car lot or anything else that can be sold noticed by people who may venture in from out of town or by locals who pick up the magazine and have never heard of your business.
Lastly, we have the queen mother of all newspaper projects also coming out this summer. Some newspapers call it a progress, others call it a profile. I’m calling it the queen mother.
This publication will take a look at all of our cities and communities and give an update on everything from quality of life projects and public safety to what the city councils have done over the past couple of years to improve their cities. We’ll also include some census data on each of our communities so you’ll be able to find out how many people are living in your neighbor’s house and how much your neighbor is raking in annually.
Our tentative plan is to put a copy of this publication in every mail box in our coverage area, much like our shopper. And like our magazine, we expect it will be riveting reading material.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this look at what we’re up to at The North Jefferson News. We hope you’re as excited about these projects as we are and as always, we thank you for your support and your readership.
