Warrior — Garden tip: The weather is still cold, but now is the time to treat your yard with a pre-emerge formula to control crab grass.

• Happy birthday greetings to: Charles Eubanks and Hazel Morgan on Feb. 16; Ruby Sanders Sims and Larry Bradley on Feb. 17; Imogene Lundy on Feb. 18; Ruby Gabbart on Feb. 19; and Lethia Percel on Feb. 20. I hope all of these have a great day and year.

• It’s census taking time, and Paulette Campbell will be testing to hire census workers on Feb. 18 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church at 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. For more information, call 307-5730 or go online at www.2010. censusjobs.gov.

• The Lions Club still has pecans on sale at R and R Drug Store, Superior Bank, Youngs Grocery in Trafford, Jones Cleaners, Ace Hardware and the Warrior Library. They are $15 for a bag of cracked pecans. Also, the Warrior history calendars can be purchased for $5 each at the same places the pecans are sold, plus McCurry Furniture store.
