Elbert L. Pannell, age 86, of Morris, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 18, 2009. He was a member of Church of God Ministry and a World War II Veteran. His funeral service will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at 8 p.m. with burial following at Mt. Joy. Bro. Paul Rivers officiating. Visitation was held on Tuesday, March 17, 2009. Mr. Pannell was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Pannell and daughter, Janice Pannell. He is survived by his loving companion, Doris Lackey; children, Horace (Kay) Pannell of Kimberly, Martha (Hilton) Flack of Arab, Linda (Charles) Roden of Albertville, Wanda (Paul) Rivers of Dodge City, Marilyn (Lonnie) Burford of Alpine, Danny (Margaret) Pannell of Harselle, Gary (Deborah) Pannell of Fultondale, Judy (Howard) Burgett of Breman, Reba (Jonathan) Speicher of Mt. Olive, Randy Pannell of Warrior, Ronnie Pannell of Morris, Glenn (Renee) Panell of Adamsville, Steve (Billie) Pannell of Knoxville, Tammy (Wendal) Higginbothom of Hayden; sister, Jean Murphee of Oneonta; brothers, Walton (Eloise) Pannell of Columbus, Miss., Denton (Nora Lee) Pannell of Hanceville; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
